WHO I AM

… AND WHY THIS BLOG EXISTS

My name is Chanté. An incident of sexual violence in 2019 unleashed a lifetime of previous trauma, but it also put me on a path of empowerment. The path was steep, and I quickly tired of carrying shame— shame I have carried my whole life. I ripped it from my body and hurled it over a cliff. In six months, I made more emotional gains than in my previous 38 years of life. And I want the same for others, so I will advocate. In that regard, a considerable portion of my blog does deal with rape culture and advocating for change. But along my journey, I have also realized how often shame becomes intertwined with other aspects of our lives: parenting, relationships, religion, education, mental health, body image… the list goes on.

Beautiful humans, we are not shame. We are glorious, even in our imperfection. Ignite a flame within yourself. Set fire to societal shame. Let it all burn. It’s from those ashes that we will learn: We are never the same. And we are not shame.
